The river is reflected in the clouds, 2023

Video, 00:02:33

The video work imagines a fictional alternate reality where humans have been forced to abandon Earth due to its destruction. While the exact location of their new existence is unclear, as the title suggests, they may have relocated to another planet or transitioned into a virtual realm.

The work critiques humanity's tendency to prioritize constant progress driven by materialism, consumerism, and the desire for more, without acknowledging or caring for what we already have. It envisions a future that could unfold if we ignore the ecological crisis. The intention is to offer viewers a moment of reflection, urging them to consider a scenario where the damage is irreversible. The stunning landscapes depicted in the piece are meant to inspire a reconnection with nature, urging viewers to recognize the urgency of preserving our planet before its destruction becomes irreversible.

The work has been screened internationally as part of The PROJECTING THE CHANGE project at locations including IVAM (Institut Valencià d'Art Modern) in Valencia, Spain; La Casa Encendida in Madrid, Spain; Tenerife Espacio de las Artes (TEA) in Tenerife, Spain; the University of Swansea in Wales, UK; the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos (UAEM) in Mexico; the ANIAV Conference at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) in Spain; and Jornadas de Geografía Poética at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Teruel, Spain.
