The work exposes traumas of isolation, body image and self-harm where dance becomes a coping mechanism, while simultaneously becoming a further cause of self-hatred and frustration. Dance becomes a metaphor for finding alternatives to real human connection and intimacy and a substitute for friendship and love. The piece exposes the frailty of life and argues the importance of having an alternative in moments of loneliness and despair. The sultry dance combined with the unapologetic monologue finds empowerment in exposing one’s shames and becoming resilient.
