The work has been constructed directly referring to the online customer service training from the artist’s job. The training instructs employees to ‘greet the customer as if they’re walking out on the x-factor stage’. Other instructions given which are demonstrated in the work include, directing the employee's bodily expression, language, tone, mood and responses.
The idea for this work originated during the artist's induction to her first job. The artist and other newly employed staff were shown a video that directed their body language, tone and expression. The induction video resembled hypnosis.
